Snotblox is a YouTube show about Lego and incompetence. Mostly incompetence. This blog is the handy dandy companion to the show where we can post detailed pictures, rambling text articles and all those other goodies which don't really work on YouTube.
Greg had the idea for Snotblox when he was valiantly struggling with a Lego Porg and realised he had no idea what he was building. He happened to say something along the lines of 'a show about people building Lego without the instructions would be hilarious' to Owen. Owen came up with the title and talked Greg into making the show. It wasn't that hard. Mostly we try to build things without instructions and find other ways to demonstrate our incompetence and then Owen glares at a computer for a few hours until the footage edits itself into something vaguely resembling a YouTube show.
But why, I hear you cry, are you called Snotblox, and what is that odd isometric thing in your logo?
The answer to all these questions is simple. Owen likes vile puns. In Lego terms, SNOT is an acronym for 'Studs Not On Top' - any sort of block which has studs on the sides instead of the top. These are very cool pieces and enable many exciting techniques. In Australia a Snot Block is a slang name for a vanilla slice - a layer of delicious custard sandwiched between two layers of crumbly puff pastry. These are very cool and enable many exciting things like getting sticky fingers. Obviously, we chose to spell the name with an 'x' in a desperate attempt to seem cool and attract a younger audience...
